WERE YOU A PART OF PROJECT ECHO?
Then this is for you - it’s the part two you asked for !
Thanks to your help we got funding to run Social Goods, a project looking at fast fashion, sustainability, circular economics and ethical thinking.

WORKSHOP NOTES
(FOR THOSE PLAYING AT HOME)
-
We met Jaz and Rach and reintroduced ourselves.
We learnt how to use the Social Flock space safely.
We designed a set of guidelines for all participants and facilitators to follow.
We learnt about Social Flock, what they do and how this project will be working with the clothing they can’t use that is destined to go to charity or in to waste services.
We talked about the themes of the project and what we hope to create.
We touched on timelines.
-
A lot of people were off sick, so Jaz rearranged the timetable (already updated above).
We went through half of the clothing stock available to us for the project, and made piles of what was usable for us and what wasn’t.
We cut panels from torn or stained cotton tshirts for fabric for us to practice and play on in the coming weeks.
Some people got inspired and started collecting things like specific buttons or items like socks that they intend to work with.
We looked at Jaz’s pinterest board and talked about setting our own up, personally and also a joint one to share.
We voted on who would like an art diary to keep at the space / take home and use as their working book to keep track of ideas. We’ll have these ordered for next week with a pencil and a pen for everyone to us, and some communal things like glue sticks in the space so that stuff can be stuck in them.
We also talked about Jaz looking at an art diary alternative like a ring binder so that people could add to their file and also have access to a plastic pocket or two to keep things in.
One person got approved for their idea, and will be looking in to cutting fabric and then sewing it back together to make a patchwork new fabric to turn in to beanies.
-
Printmaking session one!
We looked at lino, screen printing, vegetable printing, smashed some flowers and more.
First looks and plays with different things.
-
We used this session to have big chats about what each of our ideas were and how we were going to achieve them.
We looked at who was happy to be workers and who had concepts they wanted to see created.
We talked about branding and colours.
-
We had a different session this week, from 5pm-8pm in Blend in Perth.
We watched Next in Fashion on the projector and drank hot chocs.
We sketched ideas and kept mulling over what we were going to do.
We looked at paint chips and decided on a colour pallette for the project.
We set up two main job roles - one Elliot on design and the other Elliot on logos.
